TSYS appoints new Chief Information Officer

Total System Services (TSYS) has appointed Patricia A. Watson as its new chief information officer (CIO). Watson has over 17 years’ experience within the financial services industry, in which she managed Bank of America’s payment system.

Effective from September 14th, Watson will officially be appointed as TSYS’ new senior executive vice president and CIO. Watson replaces the outgoing Ken Tye, who has worked for TSYS for over 40 years.

Previously, Watson was the global CIO for  The Brinks Co., a Texas-based security and cash management firm. The company has links to TSYS, as Brink’s  has previously collaborated with NetSpend, a Texas-based unit of TSYS, on a prepaid payroll offering, as well as releasing a Brink’s pre-paid card.

For the majority of her career, Watson worked with Bank of America in a variety of roles including senior technology executive for the bank’s treasury, payments and credit area.

‘‘Patty is well respected throughout the financial services industry, brings an impressive roster of skills and successes, is a demonstrated leader and clearly reflects the heart of TSYS as a concerned and active advocate for the people in her community and the world,’’ said M. Troy Woods, chairman, president and chief executive officer, TSYS.

‘‘I am thrilled to welcome her to the TSYS executive leadership team, and I know she will set the enterprise technology agenda to enable and deliver future global growth at TSYS.’’
