Emergent Payments hires PayPal and Visa executives

Senior executives from Visa, MasterCard and Worldpay have all joined Emergent Payments, a recently relaunched payments company that specialises in improving the transaction process for digital businesses.

The executives joining the company include Joseph Podulka, who has joined the firm as CFO. Podulka previously worked for eBay, where he served as head of finance for sister company PayPal, working in its New Ventures and European departments.

Also joining Emergent is Rob Freedman, who previously served as business development manager at Worldpay. Emergent has also nabbed a former Visa employee in the form of Pawan Chawla.

Now working as vice president merchant solutions and strategy, Chawla previously served as senior director, merchant integration/technical account management at Visa. Chawla specialises in technology integration, solutions architecture, digital commerce and global payments.

‘‘This is an exciting time for Emergent Payments as we grow the business to address the $1.7T revenue opportunity in emerging markets for our customers,’’ commented Mitch Davis, CEO, Emergent Payments.

‘‘The re-launch was very well received by both our customers and the industry. Now we are adding further international payments experience to our team with Joseph, Rob and Pawan. With over twenty year’s payments and eCommerce experience between them, we are well positioned to increase our market share in the global payments space.’’
