How is Amazon helping Indian ecommerce dealers?

Amazon has announced the launch of its new payments and logistics system which allows Indian merchants to leverage the ecommerce giant’s technology on their personal website.

 

Making it easier for merchants

Indian businesses can use Amazon’s assisted shipping technology in two ways.

The country’s first integrated payments and logistics offering includes ‘Pay with Amazon’, a feature that enables customers to use their Amazon account when purchasing goods on other ecommerce websites.

The second feature is called ‘Amazon Easy Ship’, and it permits merchants to take advantage of Amazon’s delivery infrastructure. When a customer places an order on their website, business owners can contact Amazon’s delivery team to have the package delivered.

‘‘Brands and businesses are looking to convert their static websites into digital storefronts and tap into the growing base of online shoppers in the country,’’ explained Amit Agarwal, Amazon India’s vice president and country manager.

‘‘We have made it simple and easy for them to outsource their payments and fulfillment processes and enabled them focus on their core business. Amazon is committed to transforming the way India buys and sells and we are always looking for ways to help businesses leverage India’s growing digital economy.’’

 

Lucrative ecommerce industry

Amazon hopes that this new system can cut down on fraud and increase digital sales within India. According to a PWC report, the Indian e-commerce industry is worth $12.6bn. The market is currently dominated by Snapdeal, Amazon India and Flipkart.

Pay with Amazon is already available for pre-registration. According to Srinivas Rao, GM and payments director for Amazon India, the new service has already been met with positivity from customers.

‘‘Ecommerce websites can now offer their customers across India a delightful experience as well as grow their business online backed by the trust and convenience that these services by Amazon offer.’’
