Computop partners with CardinalCommerce to crack down on e-commerce crime

With e-commerce fraud becoming an ever present problem for online merchants, payment service provider (PSP) Computop has teamed up with remote payments firm CardinalCommerce to help retailers avoid cybercriminals.

E-commerce security

Computop provides secure payment services for retailers across the globe, making 60 different payment methods available for consumers and merchants to choose from. The PSP claims to have processed over $14bn worth of transactions.

Founded in 1997, the company with has ties with e-commerce groups Demandware, Hybris, Intershop, Magento, IBM Websphere and SAP Business ByDesign, all of whom support Computop’s Paygate solution. The Germany-based firm has also formed partnerships with the likes of Rakuten, Samsung and Swarovski.

Computop claims that ‘‘online credit/debit card transactions have significantly lower authorization and much higher fraud rates compared to POS commerce,’’ so is now looking to help retailers increase sales, reduce risk with online payments and to keep control of the consumer experience.

Through this new partnership Computop hopes to leverage Cardinal’s Consumer Authentication software into its Paygate platform, providing retailers in the US, Europe and other key international markets with secure services for their e-commerce and mobile payment operations.

‘The most robust payment platform’

Computop hopes that its new partnership will create fewer check-out abandonments and less false positives for retailers, something that Ralf Gladis, CEO of Computop, is looking forward to seeing.

‘‘By partnering with Cardinal, we are continuing to provide our retail clients with the most robust payment platform that includes the latest state-of-the-art security functionality,’’ said Gladis.

‘‘Together, Computop and CardinalCommerce give merchants a complete, highly secure payment solution that enables them to not only bolster sales in their own backyards but also to efficiently and effectively conduct business on the other side of the world.’’

This isn’t the first time that Computop has partnered with a cyber security company. In August, Payment Eye reported that the PSP has partnered with ACI Worldwide, with the two firms agreeing to create an integrated online payments and fraud prevention solution.
