Barclaycard and Uber agree on exclusive loyalty programme

Barclaycard and Uber have agreed on a new commercial collaboration that will see Barclaycard customers benefit from exclusive offers when they use their personal credit card to pay for their Uber rides.

The new agreement will see Barclaycard’s credit card customers benefit from a free Uber ride up to the value of £15, for every ten they take and pay for using their Barclaycard. First time Uber users who add a Barclaycard or Barclays personal debit card to the app will also receive up to £10 off each of their first two trips book through the Uber app. The rewards programme will be in effect until the 31st of December 2017.

The Uber journeys can be taken anywhere across the world, however the redeemable free ride must be taken in the UK.

“We’re really pleased to be working with Barclaycard as, like us, they use technology to constantly innovate. The Uber app allows people to access convenient, safe and affordable transport and we are excited to reward loyal riders alongside Barclaycard,” said Jo Bertram, Regional General Manager of Uber in the UK.

The collaboration is the first of its kind between Uber and a payment provider in the UK, and will see Barclaycard grow its role in delivering innovation in the transport sector, after introducing contactless payments to London’s underground transport network.

Brian Cole, CEO of Barclaycard UK, said: “We’re constantly looking for new ways to give our 10 million customers additional value on their everyday spend and make their lives easier with new innovation.”

“Working with Uber will see us offer great value to Barclaycard holders, and builds on our heritage of innovation in the transport space as we work together to drive forward exciting new ways of rewarding customer loyalty.”
