	Apple (formerly Apple Computer) is a consumer electronics company founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976 with the aid of Mike Markkula. Apple released the iPhone in 2007, a convergence of an Internet-enabled smartphone and iPod. The latest 5th generation version, the iPhone 4S, was released in October 2011 equipped with an 8 megapixel camera and voice recognition technology. There are rumours that Apple will be incorporating NFC technology in its next version, the iPhone 5, due to be launched march 2012. Apple launched the first app store in July 2008 with 500 apps and 0 downloads. The app store grew over 10,000% in its first year to have over 55,000 apps and 1 billion downloads. Today it is still the largest app store in the world with over 425,000 applications and 15 billion downloads available worldwide. An average of 745 apps are released daily. The iPad is a line of tablet computers designed, developed and marketed by Apple, primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games, and web content. The iPad was first introduced in January 2010 by Apple's then-CEO Steve Jobs. Its size and weight fall between those of contemporary smartphones and laptop computers. The iPad runs the same operating system as the iPod Touch and iPhone—and can also run its own applications. In March 2011, Apple released the Ipad 2.
