PayPal unveils mobile payments for Android

PayPal is rolling out its mobile payment offering to all devices running Google’s Android OS, as the race to launch a ‘wave and pay’ product heats up. The feature will replace apps, where users had to manually input payment details, with the much-vaunted near field communications (NFC) technology behind “wave and pay” transactions. PayPal, which already claims to power USD10m worth of mobile payments per day, revealed the new product at the San Francisco Mobile Beat conference. The firm, which has already established itself as a formidable player in the online payments space, is now hoping to take a lead in the burgeoning mobile sector.
