Payment processing device maker VeriFone has purchased New Jersey-based Global Bay, which develops payment software for mobile devices. Global Bay has been helping retailers outfit platforms such as iPads with payment software for use in physical stores. Its suite of technology includes mobile point-of-sale and inventory management applications. Global Bay’s solutions will be integrated into VeriFone’s payment processing platforms to boost merchants’ mobile retail capabilities.
“Global Bay’s mobile retail applications complement our vision to deliver rich commerce solutions that open up new opportunities for merchants to engage their customers in deeper, more meaningful ways that will generate increased profitability and shopper loyalty,” says Jennifer Miles, VeriFone’s executive vice president, North America.
The company says the acquisition is part of a forward-looking strategy to leverage mobile and digital devices. Financial terms were not disclosed.
