Intuit partners with AT&T for mobile payments

Intuit is partnering with AT&T to offer its mobile payments app, GoPayment, to the operator’s mobile customers. The deal will enable automatic sign-up and pre-approval for AT&T customers wishing to use Intuit’s service, with users only needing to add a minimum amount of further information to set up an account. The move is an extension of the pair’s existing relationship, with the mobile operator already selling GoPayment to its small business customers. Intuit operates in the same market as Square, offering a mobile app and credit card reader that helps small- and medium-sized businesses process credit and debit card payments using a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet.

“Intuit GoPayment for AT&T comes with automatic pre-approval for AT&T customers, helping small businesses speed up the on-boarding process and enabling them to make credit and debit card transactions within minutes,” says Ebrahim Keshavarz, AT&T’s VP of small business product management. “This offer is just the first step in AT&T and Intuit working together to benefit small businesses by helping them broaden their payment capabilities, save money and, ultimately, better serve their customers.”
