
Wal-Mart appears to be preparing for the expected boom in NFC-enabled payments with the acquisition of mobile payments startup Grabble. Wal-Mart’s technology arm, Wal-Mart labs, completed the deal, and Grabble founders, Stuart Argue and Anthony Marcar, will join the firm in the US, the pair revealed on the company’s website. Founded in 2010, Australia-based Grabble created a point-of-service smartphone app to enable consumers to buy products using their smartphone.
