Poynt Corporation expands into Asia with new partnership

Expanding in China

Poynt Corporation (http://about.poynt.com/), the mobile local advertising provider, is forming a joint venture with the People’s Republic of China’s Youth League (view press release). Poynt’s Asian operating entity, Poynt HK, is joining forces with China Youth League’s affiliated entity, China Youth Goyor Technology, to form the China JV or China Youth Poynt Limited. The partnership aims to launch an integrated mobile search and e-commerce platform targeting over 230 million smartphone users in China.

China Youth Poynt Limited will initially focus on forging agreements to deploy the China Youth Poynt platform with Chinese data partners, telecom providers and original device manufactures to enter the market as a pre-loaded, subscription based model. China Youth League’s 83 million members will be targeted first with 60% (50 million users) forecast to become active users. The platform will then be marketed to the broader Chinese smartphone population of around 230 million people.

The platform will be based on the current Poynt local search platform, with added functionality such as local news, video messaging, gaming, e-books and online novels, social networking services and ewallet solutions also being considered.

Poynt Corporation CEO Andrew Osis observes that “The Chinese mobile market alone has been estimated at nearly 1 billion users… that represents an enormous opportunity for Poynt Corporation as mobile users in China convert to smartphones and discover the power of apps, and mobile local search platforms in particular.”
