Mobile Shopping
The free, downloadable app enables shoppers to make purchases directly from their mobile phone and have the product delivered to their home or work (view press release). Woolworths claims it is the first supermarket in Australia to offer a mobile shopping service. Customers can browse the aisles and add items to their shopping list by scanning them; they can then confirm the order and pay directly from their smartphone. Other features of the app include an aisle ordered shopping list, barcode scanner, recipes and offers and savings for Everyday Rewards members.
Since its launch in August last year, the Woolworths App has been downloaded by around 1.5 million Australians and, according to Woolworths Director of Supermarkets Tjeerd Jegen, the recent upgrade come as a result of high volumes of customer feedback requesting mobile shopping.
The app is available for download at the App store and Android Marketplace.
