The Canadian online payment platform is in collaboration with Bangladesh based Casada Technology Ltd to provide freelance IT workers the ability to receive international payments directly into their local bank accounts (view press release). AlertPay’s service allows Bangladeshis “to receive payments from employers abroad into their AlertPay e-wallet. The funds can then be withdrawn and deposited directly into their local bank accounts,” says CEO Firoz Patel.
There are a total of 600 IT and software companies in Bangladesh employing over 25,000 engineers. The country’s IT services sector is becoming a ‘high priority’ export due to the 150 and growing companies serving overseas clients. The number of Bangladeshis working for overseas clients in the IT sector is rapidly increasing but workers have faced a major issue due to there being no secure, cost-effective method of accepting international payments.
The service will commence at the beginning of February and will be introduced at the BASIS Soft Expo 2012, 22nd – 26th February.
