Integrating m-commerce ecosystem and financial world
The strategic alliance was announced Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and is designed to speed up the assimilation of the m-commerce ecosystem and the financial world (view press release). The solution will integrate Western Union’s mobile money transfer network with Ericsson’s suite of m-commerce solutions including the Ericsson Converged Wallet, Ericsson Wallet Platform and Ericsson M-Commerce Interconnect. Mobile network operators using Ericsson’s m-commerce solutions will be able to take advantage of the integrated service by including Western Union mobile money transfers in their mobile financial service offerings.
Hans Vestberg, President and CEO of Ericsson, says the company’s ambition “is to accelerate access and interconnection between the m-commerce ecosystem and the existing financial world. Through this agreement, we are helping mobile network operators and financial institutions get closer to their customers with differentiated wallet services that connect and add value to their customers.”
