The customer experience systems provider’s new solution, called Amdocs Mobile Payments, is a cloud-based gateway that charges customers via the carrier. Mobile payments can be charged either to the phone bill, prepaid balance or mobile wallet. The solution allows mobile operators to scale their mobile payments business and open new revenue streams through prepaid and postpaid customers. (view press release)
Amdocs division president Brian Shepherd says consumers “prefer the convenience of mobile payments settled on a carrier bill rather than disclosing their credit card details to unknown retailers… Mobile network operators are uniquely positioned to take advantage of their billing relationships with their consumers to enable them to do more in the connected world.”
According to Juniper Research the mobile payments market is predicted to reach $670 billion by 2015.
