Rolling out new system
PayPal is rolling out its in-store payments system, allowing customers to make payments using either a PayPal credit card or their mobile phone number, to all Home Depot stores in the US, as the firm explores new digital payment options. PayPal is rolling out the technology after an extended test phase, despite criticism from rival Visa that the system is vulnerable to security attacks. PayPal, which powered a 6% increase in parent eBay’s Q4 profits, has said that it plans to offer its service at 20 major retailers over the next 12 months as it attempts to bridge the gap between online and offline commerce.
