The new ATMs will be built on Wincor Nixdorf hardware and software products and will enable local Orange Money customers to withdraw funds from their mobile wallets 24/7 (view press release). The Orange Money wallet is free to set up and transactions will be free during the launch period of the first six ATMs. There are currently five Orange shops fitted with an ATM in the capital Abidjan and, with support from Wincor Nixdorf, more will be installed in the capital as well as other cities over the coming months. Orange Mobile will also be introducing a new feature to enable subscribers to top up their prepaid account with cash at the ATM.
Hermann Salmen, head of mobile money projects at Wincor Nixdorf says “we have paid special attention to creating an ATM which meets the innovative cash-in, cash-out business model requirements of Orange.”
