Pioneer project
The new solution is claimed to be the first payment system with multi-brand NFC mobile and will be pioneered at 40 sales points at the Group Santander City as well as shops in the town of Boadilla del Monte, in the community of Madrid (view press release). At select stores, as well as restaurants and vending machines, users will be able to make purchases of any quantity by swiping their NFC-enabled phone against either Visa Paywave or MasterCard PayPass terminals. Users will also be able to obtain information on products and services by swiping their phone against NFC labels.
Ingenico will be developing and providing the NFC-enabled iCT250 PoS terminals. Other companies involved in the venture include Oberthur Technologies, Redsys and RIM.
