Hashtag savings
American Express cardholders can now sync their card with Twitter and load it with couponless savings and discounts by tweeting certain special offer hashtags. They can then make online or in-store purchases and redeem the savings which are credited to their statement within a few days. Participating retailers include BestBuy, McDonalds, Whole Foods Market, Zappos, Ticketmaster, Dell and H&M, to name a few. The service is facilitated by American Express’s Smart Offer APIs, which also provide retailers with on and offline customer behavioural reporting.
Ed Gilligan, vice chairman of American Express said “American Express is turning Twitter content into commerce by connecting card members to merchants and delivering real world value to both.”
The Amex Twitter syncing experience will be showcased in live concert from SXSW on March 12th.
