Google launching mobile strategy service GetMo in UK

Bringing UK business to the mobile platform

Google is launching its mobile strategy for business service GetMo in the UK, aiming to help bring UK businesses to the mobile platform. Google’s GetMo website offers a tool that lets companies see how their current website looks on a mobile phone, whilst providing tips on how to build a more effective mobile site, and information about mobile consumer trends. The UK scheme is an extension of GoMo, Google’s mobile web initiative for US businesses.

As the smartphone explosion continues, more consumers are looking to engage with brands by searching for them on their mobile phone,” says Ian Carrington, Google’s director of mobile advertising for Europe. “Yet the majority of businesses don’t have mobile sites or a mobile strategy for connecting with them. Businesses need to get mobile in order to provide a positive user experience for their customers. At the moment, businesses are not keeping up with customers.”

One of Google’s partners in GetMo is mobile commerce firm MoBank, which adds shopping features to businesses’ mobile sites. Other partners include Boost Communications, Incentivated, Sponge, Wapple and dotMobi.
