In collaboration with Visa and Etisalat, Emirates NBD bank is launching ‘MoneyMobile,’ a new contactless payment solution that enables customers in the UAE to make payments by simply waving or tapping their NFC-enabled mobile phone at a Visa payWave terminal (view press release). The launch follows a recent rollout of an NFC-branded mobile device among staff at Emirates NBD, Etisalat, Visa and Gemalto (who will be carrying out initial tests on the device).
Jean-Claude Deturche, senior vice president of mobile financial services at Gemalto says the new service “promises to revolutionize the payment, retail and mobile ecosystems, whilst enhancing the shopping experience and bringing enormous benefits to consumers and merchants.” Senior vice president and head of cards business at Emirates NBD, R. Sivaram, says the solution “represents the retail experience of the future.”
