Reading smart tokens via NFC-enabled Android phones
Over the past six years, ScholarChip has issued around 700,000 smart tokens, such as smart cards, fobs and paper tags (view press release). These tokens are used in schools and read by ScholarChip kiosks for functions such as taking attendance in the classroom and on the school bus, paying for public transportation and school lunches, and ticketing for extracurricular events. The new School Safety and Operations (SSOS) platform integrates with the existing system and enables the reading of smart tokens via NFC-enabled Android phones as well as the original kiosks. Students can consolidate their wallet, keys and other cards or tickets into one secure token which can be read by teachers on the move via their NFC-enabled Android phone.
