Fees less than half those of credit card networks
Through the agreement Bigpoint, a global online games company, will incorporate Mazooma’s instant ‘Pay with Online Banking’ transfer service to enable US gamers to purchase virtual credits for online games (view press release). The service removes the need to enter bank details when making in-game purchases and will be available across such games as Battlestar Galactica Online, Farmerama, DarkOrbit and Drakensang Online. The payment platform is accessible via smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Mazooma claims its payment network supports 15 of the US’s largest banks and provides merchants with access to 55 million American households using online banking. The company also claims fees for its payment service are less than half those of traditional credit card networks.
“The use of online bank transfers is pervasive in Europe, where we are headquartered, so we are pleased with the opportunity to partner with Mazooma to offer a similar option in the US market,” said Minus Menden, SVP of Finance at Bigpoint.
