MasterCard Mobile
The global card giant is bringing its mobile payment service, MasterCard Mobile, to South Africa in collaboration with Oltio, a local mobile payment and financial service provider, reports bizcommunity.com. The new service will enable MasterCard and Maestro cardholders in the country to make secure online purchases using their mobile phone. The service operates on the MTN and Vodacom networks and with cheque or credit/debit cards issued by Absa, Nedbank or Standard bank.
To make payments using the service, users will need to select the payment option on the participating e-tailer’s checkout page and register their card details along with their mobile phone number. Subsequent transactions can then be made directly from the phone with the users PIN number entered for authorisation.
