PT XL Axiata (XL), Indonesia’s second largest mobile carrier, has chosen TIBCO Software to power its new mobile payment solution for the unbanked (view press release). The vast majority of Indonesians own a mobile phone but many don’t live in close proximity to a bank. Mobile money is therefore a convenient solution in bridging this economic barrier. XL serves around 46 million people and is launching a mobile payment platform to bring the advantage of mobile payments to the country. The company says it chose TIBCO due to its experience in handling high transaction volumes in real time, speed-to-market with new functions and ability to deliver end-to-end visibility.
