Improving online purchases at a pan-European level
Many of the major banks in Italy, comprising over 75% of the Italian payment market, are supporting the EBA CLEARING MyBank e-payment solution (view press release). Key Italian household names in e-commerce such as Banzai.it, 24 ORE Group and IBS are also in support. EBA CLEARING provides pan-European payment infrastructure solutions and is owned by 65 of Europe’s major banks. Its MyBank product is an electronic payment solution designed to make the purchase of goods and services online easier and safer at a pan-European level. The solution enables customers to make online purchases via their regular online banking environment or payment application. MyBank will initially support the initiation of SEPA Credit Transfers and the creation of SEPA Direct Debit e-mandates; payment initiation via other devices such as smart phones and tablets, and transactions in other currencies, will follow at a later stage.
“We believe this pan-European solution will put our bank and our corporate customers at a competitive advantage in a fully integrated European market,” said head of online and mobile payments at Banca Sella, Marco Loro. “Together, we will be able to offer consumers one highly trusted payment environment for all their online purchases throughout Europe.”
