Jumio releases mobile SDK and donates USD5 million to startups

No more typing in card details

Jumio, the payment company that turns webcams into card and ID readers, released its mobile SDK today, allowing developers to add card scanning capabilities to their app (view press release). The solution requires no extra hardware and is available for iOS; it will be released for Android soon. “Have you ever tried typing in credit card details on a mobile phone? Users don’t have to type in their card details anymore, they just quickly scan their card,” said CEO and founder Daniel Mattes.

The company is also donating USD5 million worth of scanning fees to support start-ups and the developer community. “Developers are invited to implement the solution to offer a strong feature in their apps… Even though we are not a typical start-up anymore we very much carry the spirit and want to support up and coming enterprises,” continued Mattes.
