Immediate purchasing power
The US Bank Card App for Android allows customers of various retail partners to apply for a credit card while they are shopping and, if approved, use it to make purchases before they leave the store (view press release). The launch follows the roll out of the US Bank iPhone app with REI (Recreational Equipment Inc) in October 2011 and Ace Hardware in April 2012. REI is the first cobranded partner to launch the new app for Android.
“The US Bank Card App for iPhone and now Android enables our partners to offer convenience and immediate purchasing power to more customers, regardless of their mobile devices,” said John Owens, US Bank Retail Payment Solutions senior vice president.
Other features of the app include checking balances, paying bills, transferring money and depositing checks. US bank plans to roll out the app with other cobranded retailers later this year.
The bank is also currently developing US+, an iPhone app that gives users a street view branch and ATM locator via the phone’s camera.
