Mobile security firm SecureKey scoops USD30 million

Mobile security firm SecureKey has raised USD30 million in funding in a round led by partner and previous backer, Intel Capital, with participation from VisaMasterCardDiscover Financial ServicesRogers Venture Partners and TELUS. The Canadian firm provides online and mobile authentication services to let companies set up secure payments. Intel is collaborating with the firm to integrate SecureKey security technology into its new range of light-weight Ultrabook devices, expected on the market before the end of the year.

The product is aimed at the growing number of e-commerce firms, as well as financial organisations and governments. Payment firms such as Visa are coming under increasing pressure to ensure customer security as they roll out mobile payment services such as and MasterCard’s PayPass technology.
