FIME opens NFC mobile test lab in South Korea

20 million Koreans predicted to own an NFC-enabled handset by end of year

FIME, a global consulting and market integration testing service for NFC solutions, is opening a new NFC mobile test lab in Seoul. The new lab is part of the company’s expansion in Asia and will allow it to meet the demands for EMV testing of NFC mobiles in the region. FIME said the rapid growth of the NFC mobile market in South Korea and an increase in its Korean customer-base were the main reasons behind opening the lab. The company also has laboratories and research and development centres in France, Taiwan, Canada, India and Dubai.

The new test lab will enable FIME to provide integration testing and certification services for mobile device manufacturers and network operators to ensure that NFC-enabled handsets are fully interoperable and compliant with industry standards and EMV payment specifications before release.

FIME has been active in South Korea for the past six years. The region continues to become one of the most important and fast-growing mobile contactless markets in the world, making it integral to FIME’s strategic vision for growth,” said Pascal Le Ray, general manager at FIME. “With 20 million Koreans predicted to own an NFC-enabled handset by the end of this year, it is evident that South Korea is quickly becoming a global leader in the development and deployment of NFC mobile technology.
