M-payments for school meals
Atlanta-based Horizon Software International, a provider of software, services and technology for K-12 food service and online payments, is launching an iPhone m-payment app for school meals (view press release). The MyPaymentsPlus app will allow parents to pay for school meals in participating districts and also check account balance, review transactions and top-up using credit/debit card, savings or checking account.
To use the service customers download the app and login using their existing MyPaymentsPlus usernames and passwords while new users will be able to create a login and password within the app. Accounts can be personalised with a child’s photo and parents can be notified when preset low-balance thresholds have been reached. This is an extension of the company’s meal payment solutions, having already developed MyPaymentsPlus.com, an online prepayment system for school meals, services and activity fees.
“The MyPaymentsPlus app is a natural extension of MyPaymentsPlus.com, which serves more than 500 school districts and 1.8 million users across the country,” says Tina Bennett, Horizon’s vice president of online payment systems. “With more than 100 million iPhones sold during the past year – and more than 500,000 apps in the App Store – we know our customers are looking for mobile solutions that simplify their lives.”
