Pocket Change raises USD5 million for virtual currency

Ambitions to build a universal virtual currency

Virtual currency startup Pocket Change has raised USD5 million in new funding led by Google Ventures with participation from existing investors First Round Capital, Scott Banister and Baroda Ventures. Originally called Lunch Money, Pocket Change provides a virtual currency platform that works across more than 100 games developed for Android, reaching more than 2 million users. The company has ambitions to build a universal virtual currency with the funding, and has raised a total of USD6.4 million.
