Payment services provider, Wirecard AG, is partnering myTaxi, to launch a new mobile payment system for the German market (view press release). By downloading the myTaxi mobile app, passengers will be able to order a taxi and pay for fares. The service aims to create a direct link between the taxi driver and the passenger and works when a smartphone localises a passenger and connects them to an available myTaxi. Users will then be able to see which taxis close by are free to order.
Customers also have the ability to register their payment data on the app. This means that credit card data is transferred via the Wirecard payment page and saved in a PCI conform manner using the Wirecard Tokenization Service. If customers choose to store their payment data with Wirecard, they can then pay for their ride using their myTaxi PIN.
At present the myTaxi app is available in 30 German cities, Barcelona, Vienna and Zurich with plans to launch in the USA and other European cities.
