Absa, a South African retail bank, is a partnering with fashion retailer, Mr Price, to extend its online payment services to the retailer’s customer base (view press release). The deal aims to provide Mr Price customers with a secure payment facility when shopping online. Through the partnership, Absa will develop a fraud detection capability for Mr Price’s new online shop. The fraud mitigation service will assist in combating online fraud to ensure that customers’ card accounts are not compromised.
“Online banking is one of the most successful stories to emerge from the advent of e-commerce. It provides unprecedented flexibility for consumers. However, for e-commerce to realise its full potential, consumers must have confidence in the security of online transactions,” said Absa’s head of retail markets, Arrie Rautenbach.
