Kenya’ Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) is launching what it claims is the first US dollar-dominated Visa credit cards in Africa, using TSYS’ PRIME card management solution (view press release). Cardholders will be able to save on foreign exchange fees to CBA customers travelling to the US, while purchases in the US can be debited from the customer’s USD account, instead of having every transaction converted to the local currency.
This is a continuation of the bank’s partnership with TSYS, as since 1997 CBA has been using the PRIME solution to manage issuing, acquiring, collections and rewards for its suite of Visa products. Four new USD credit cards will be added to this portfolio, with Classic and Gold versions for personal users and Silver and Gold for business users.
