Mobile payments
Mobile payments start-up iZettle is adding American Express to its latest funding round in an undisclosed deal. The firm raised USD31.4 million in Series B backing from Greylock, MasterCard, SEB Private Equity and Northzone in June, but it is not yet clear what amount AmEx is investing in the company. iZettle lets merchants take payments from their iOS or Android device using a plug-in card reader and corresponding app.The funding iZettle is gathering momentum in the European mobile payment service market, with US rival Square yet to expand internationally. iZettle now has AmEx and MasterCard on side but is struggling to complete the trio with Visa support, with Visa citing failure to meet standards in denying iZettle its support.
