American Express cardholders will have the opportunity to earn real-world rewards for completing tasks on the new Halo 4 game, after the company teamed up with Microsoft.
The deal, which is running in the US and UK, allows AmEx customers to connect their accounts to Xbox Live using its Card Sync Technology. Once they have achieved specified in-game achievements, players will avail of special offers and experiences.
This is the first time that AmEx customers and merchants have connected through its Sync platform in the interactive games and entertainment industry, and senior vice president, digital partnerships and development at AmEx, Leslie Berland believes it will bring “a new level of value and engagement for card members that is meaningful to our merchant partners and a significant development in interactive entertainment”.
She added: “The development provides merchants a platform for reaching a highly engaged and savvy audience with relevant offers and experiences”.
