Mobile payments startup iZettle is partnering with 4G carrier EE for its UK launch, reports StrategyEye. According to iZettle CEO Jacob de Greer, although he anticipates striking deals with other carriers, the exclusivity will “last for some time”. Card readers are going on sale in 297 EE stores for GPB20 (USD32). MasterCard and Amex are also partnering with iZettle at launch to enable merchants to take payments using their credit and debit cards. However, Visa is notable by its absence. While iZettle can accept Visa payments, the process requires users to hand over their phone numbers and input security details on their phone, rather than simply handing over their card and signing.
