Launching in Singapore
MasterCard unveils plans to launch a new interactive payment card that aims to improve control and security for users (view press release). The MasterCard Display Card closely resembles a regular credit, debit or ATM card but offers users the opportunity to create a One –Time Password (OTP) to enhance security.
The new card, manufactured by NagraID Security, features embedded LCD display and touch- sensitive buttons combining the standard functions of regular cards with those of security tokens. It is set for a test launch in Singapore in January 2013, on Standard Chartered Online Banking and Breeze Mobile Banking accounts.
“With the continued growth in online and now mobile initiated remote payments, consumers are naturally demanding increased security,” said Matthew Driver, president of MasterCard Worldwide’s South East Asia business. “The innovative features of the Display Card serve to address this need, whilst empowering consumers to do so much more with their payment cards.”
