New mobile wallet
Japanese card provider JCB is trialling a new mobile wallet platform which it hopes to launch in 2013 (view press release). The one month trial will focus on the usability of the new JCB Mobile Wallet’s app functions including exchanging points for discount coupons and swapping points among users.
The new product is based on a platform developed by Dai Nippon Printing and the trial will offer users discounts and special offers at merchants in the shopping district of Omotesando in Tokyo.
JCB aims to use the results of the trial to improve contents and functions for users, merchants and service providers. “The new JCB Mobile Wallet platform is another approach to further meet customer needs and provide JCB’s unique values to customers, including making payments using points, managing multiple loyalty programs, and exchanging points with friends,” said Tac Watanabe, Executive Vice President, Brand Infrastructure & Technologies of JCB.
