
Entering prepaid market
Oberthur Technologies, providers of security and identification solutions and services based on smart card technologies, is delivering its smart prepaid solutions to Buy Way in Belgium. The solution encompasses EMV card, PIN issuance and secure packaging technologies (view press release).
Buy Way are entering the prepaid market using a general purpose card and are aiming to offer a new payment service to Belgian consumers. Buy Way aims to launch the EMV prepaid card program through a multi distribution online network and also physically through the existing retail environment.
The Buy Way MasterCard® Prepaid card is anonymous and reloadable, and is available to anyone over 18 years old. David Dechamps, General Manager Benelux Region at MasterCard Europe said: “MasterCard is creating a series of environments where prepaid can be disruptive to the normal flow of cash in our society and where those people bound to cash can take advantage of the security, convenience and control offered by prepaid.”
