Mobile POS ecosystem
A report has been published on the mobile POS ecosystem, a phenomenon that has come about over the last few years as smartphones and tablets deliver new POS acceptance capabilities.
The report has divided industry players into those who are merchant-facing, i.e. supply devices to merchants directly, such as iZettle, Square and Groupon; and those who “power” this first group by supplying them with hardware and software, such as Anywhere Commerce and SpotPay.
The report includes important findings on the subject, such as that “new entrants seem to enter the market with more functionality; MPOS solutions are moving “up market” so that larger merchants can use them to create new customer experiences; and there is a lot of activity outside of the US – in both Europe and Asia.”
