Offering users incentives
PayPal is in partnership with social gift giving app Wrapp reports StrategyEye. By offering users to pay for gifts using its service rather than credit cards PayPal is testing its mobile payment capabilities in Sweden.
In order to gain interest, PayPal is offering users incentives to opt for the new service rather than traditional credit cards. Wrapp allows users to choose gift cards, top them up with credit and send them to Facebook friends via desktop or mobile apps.
Moreover, multiple friends can contribute money to a gift card, and the receiver can redeem the card at a relevant retailer. The partnership will see PayPal contributing SEK49 (USD7.35) to any gift card sent by a user paying via PayPal on their mobile devices. Users can also pay for gift cards using credit cards. But the additional contribution from PayPal essentially makes gifts more valuable.
