E-commerce platform
The e-commerce platform PrestaShop and Indian payment gateway PayU have come to an agreement to provide LATAM companies with a method to process online transactions.
The PayU Latam brand is operated by Pagosonline, an e-commerce service provider enabling businesses to accept debit and credit card payments online. PayU Latam offers account options for local and international merchants. As a result, e-merchants in Latin America looking to sell products and services can do so using PayU.
Research by eMarketer shows the e-commerce industry in Latin America is still in its infancy with sales expected to reach USD 36.82 billion in 2012. However, projections indicate that by 2016, B2C sales will exceed USD 62.42 billion, by 58% as compared to what is expected this year.
