Christmas shopping
A comScore report shows US e-commerce sales hit a weekly five-day record, surpassing USD5bn as four individual days between December 10th and 14th exceeded spend of USD1bn. So far this holiday shopping season, which runs in November and December, sales have hit USD33.8bn, a year-on-year increase of 13%.
As customers order early to receive gifts in time for Christmas, comScore expects last week to be the heaviest week in e-commerce sales this year. However, high sales are still expected for ‘Free Shipping Day’ on Monday 17th December.
