Assisting stakeholders and sharing knowledge
FIME, is launching a series of specialised training sessions for the mobile near-field-communication (NFC) marketplace to promote industry understanding of the functional and security testing environment. This includes the responsibilities of individual NFC stakeholders as well as an insight into the current tools available. The first session focuses on the trusted execution environment (TEE) and is taking place in Nice, France on Friday 27 September 2013.
This inaugural one-day workshop will look at the functional and security certifications that are required for mobile NFC services with a specific reference to the TEE. This is a secure area that resides in the main processor of a mobile device, such as a smartphone, ensuring that sensitive data is stored, processed and protected in a trusted environment.
In addition to addressing the business case for implementing the technology and explaining the role of the TEE within the mobile services ecosystem, the session will provide an overview of the work undertaken by industry body GlobalPlatform to standardise this environment. Information will also be shared on how stakeholders can confirm compliance to GlobalPlatform’s TEE Specifications, as well as validate TEE product security through the GlobalPlatform TEE Protection Profile.
Frederic Simon, Director at FIME EMEA, comments: “GlobalPlatform’s work is vital as it brings clarity to the marketplace, promoting interoperability while reducing development costs and product time to market. As the first laboratory to qualify a GlobalPlatform-compliant TEE product and as the leader of the GlobalPlatform TEE Compliance Work Group, we have significant expertise in TEE testing. We are delighted to be able to share our unparalleled knowledge in this area to assist stakeholders in understanding industry requirements and best practice, and ensure products get to market as quickly as possible.”
