Missed out on Braintree
According to ReadWrite, mobile payments company Square was one of the top contenders in the sale of Braintree. The mobile processing company was recently purchased by eBay.
It is reported that Square’s CEO Jack Dorsely and CFO Sarah Friar met with Braintree CEO prior to its deal with eBay. The move would have significantly helped Sqaure in its quest to move beyond primarily serving micromerchants in order to gain a stronger footing in the market.
It remains to be seen if Sqaure can progress by adding another side to its business. Here is the full report.
