Introducing contactless payments
UK-based train operating company Merseyrail is launching contactless payment technology at its rail stations in association with MasterCard and Global Payments.
As a result, commuters will be able to pay ticket fares up to GBP20 using their debit, credit or prepaid cards without the need to use their PIN. Customer will be able to tap their contactless cards against the readers to pass through the barriers for travel.
By the end of November 2013 a number of Merseyrail stations will be equipped with the contactless payment technology.
