
Having recently launched its service in Vietnam, US-based digital money transfer provider Xoom has acquired BlueKite for USD15m in cash and equity. Guatemala City-based BlueKite has built a technology platform for cross-border bill payments and mobile phone top-ups.
Xoom provides digital money transfer from mobile phones, tablets and PCs in 31 countries. The acquisition of BlueKite will allow Xoom to add mobile phone top-up and cross-border bill payments to its money transfer service.
“BlueKite’s technology will enable customers to pay bills and “top up” mobile phones for their family members and others back in home countries”, said John Kunze, president and CEO of San Francisco-based Xoom.
