Skandiabanken has integrated Promon Shield security technology from Promon in Norway into its new mobile banking service.
Promon has been successful in markets where cyber-crime is more extensive than in Norway, protecting several million users in countries such as Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. Skandiabanken is the first Norwegian bank to introduce Promon Shield as an added protection for their mobile banking service.
“Skandiabanken is purely an online bank. We therefore have a clear focus on measures to secure confidential customer information and transactions,” explains Thomas Tjøstheim, Product Manager Security and Customers for Skandiabanken.
The implementation has had a quick turnaround, offering an extra layer of protection for the bank’s new mobile services.
“We have chosen Promon Shield for our mobile banking service, as the technology involved provides extra protection against malware on our users’ mobile phones and tablets, without requiring any changes with how our mobile banking service is used and without any action required on the part of the customer,” Tjøstheim added.
Promon launched in the UK last month, as the adoption of mobile apps continues to grow dramatically. According to recent findings from the British Bankers’ Association (BBA), customers now make 5.7 million transactions a day using smart phones and other mobile devices and this number is expected to grow in the coming years.
